It's also just boring to read about the subtext everytime anyone mentions Freddy's Revenge. The movie doesn't get enough credit for being the darkest in the series and featuring some of the most visceral effects work. The transformation scene is one of the best sequences in the series. And I'll take the creepy dog

Agreed. I was really disappointed when his guilt was revealed. Making him the victim would have been interesting enough to justify the remake.

Not sure where I read it (maybe the recent Outlaw Vern review of Rocky III), but Nolan has made at least passing reference to Clubber Lang as inspiration for Bane in Dark Knight Rises.

1. Kill Bill 2
2. Pulp Fiction
3. Inglorious Basterds
4. Reservoir Dogs
5. Django Unchained

I dropped cable and went to Sling. Basically only watch El Rey and HBO anyway.

All three of those bands were great. It's unfortunate that the decade plus of work Soul Asylum put out before Grave Dancer's Union has been overshadowed by the success of Runaway Train.

They came out of the same scene. Tommy Stinson has been in both bands. It's not that surprising.

House of the Devil was the most glaring omission for me too.

Propagandhi - Potemkin City Limits

But Joplin seems representative of her time (perhaps only in hindsight. I wasn't there.). She was a major presence at Woodstock. She's inseparable from the psychedelic era. Winehouse, even at her peak of popularity, seemed like a bit of a nostalgic novelty. Representative of her time only in that the music of the time

Is anyone really going to give a shit about Amy Winehouse in 20 years? Is she on that level? And if so, is it just because she died? I swear I'm not just trying to be a dick, but I don't know anyone who's ever been a diehard Wine-head.

I think it's a fine title. Nothing is VS'ing or V'ing anything. No colons. No subtitles. It's simple and still specific to the movie. Great fucking job.

We all really liked Drive too, Justin.

Harsh including Soul Asylum in that company. Hang Time, Horse They Rode In On, and Grave Dancers Union are all solid albums. And Dave Pirner and Dan Murphy have already met their supergroup quota in Golden Smog with Jeff Tweedy, Gary Louris, and Chris Mars.

Agreed. It definitely now feels targeted to a much broader audience. I had a blast last year and most years before. But this year's lineup doesn't even feel like my kind of scene anymore. And not in a "getting old and out of touch" sort of way. No Doubt was bullshit in the 90's and No Doubt is bullshit now.

My vote goes to Golden Smog.

There's a difference between wanting to be a successful musician and wanting to be "the voice of a generation." I don't know if any human being is prepared to become as famous as Kurt Cobain became.

We all appreciate your effort.

It's like if the guy from 30 Seconds To Mars was asked to be the Joker. Wait…

The Decline and a few tracks off Punk In Drublic are about all that the can listen to by them anymore.
