I think I enjoyed this ep as much as I did because I knew it was written by Ryan Murphy, who also wrote the infamous 3rd episode. That being said, I expected it to be much, much worse.

Best line
"I will have…. A BIRTHDAY CAKE!!!"

When will networks learn?
Lost was a random freak of showbiz alchemy. A bolt of lightning out of a clear blue sky. It will never ever happen again.

Michael C. Hall and Lauren Ambrose of Six Feet Under fame are pretty good singers. I'd like to see them in an ep.

(insert inevitable gripe about how both shows are inferior to The Wire here)

@memles- I think the "Maybe This Time" number all but telegraphed the connection. That and the conversation in the ladies room.

For some reason, it didn't feel like Rachel got shortchanged to me. I guess it's because I thought the whole point of Chenowith's character was to show what Rachel would become if she kept making everything be about her attaining stardom. Hence the title.

Creepy Chenowith
Did anybody else feel a little dirty when it was implied that Chenowith had a threesome in the shower with two football players?

An F?
Ouch. That's Heroes level failure right there.

My understanding is that he's only doing the pilots for these shows.

I can sort of see why they rushed the addition of new members; one of the problems with the show was that whenever the glee club performed a number, it sounded like WAY more than 6 people singing. This at least gives them some cover.

Conversation that should have happened
"How is this different from when you quit to start up Accafellas?"

Pushing Daisies was a musical?

Something that bugs the hell out of me
During the opening number, wasn't the blonde girl practicing with Kurt one of the Cheerios? Since when are they friends? Are they already airing the episodes out of order?

Kanye, I'm gonna give this thread back to you, but Joe Wilson had one of the best public hissy fits of all time.

Whenever a show I want to like has an episode like this, I just remember Buffy's first season and feel better.

Line of the night
"Who is Josh Groban?! KILL YOURSELF!"

Not funny? Did you not see the episode of Friends where she screeches "I know!" at an obnoxious pitch? Or what about the episode where she was really obsessive and high-maintenance?

My pet peeve
I always choke a bit on my own bile when a film or TV show goes out of its way to show the justice system as a corrupt, overly bureaucratic and ineffectual institution. Sure, it's a valid criticism, but so many films use it just so it appears justified when the shattered family man goes on a killing spree

I stopped reading the Redwall books when I realized they were recycling the same damn plot over and over.
