Here's the simplest primer on the Stooges: Get any of their first three albums.  Really, any of 'em.  They're all loud, violent, and great.

Regarding The Stooges, I really wish my Dad had been a bigger presence in my life (we lived in the same house, but he was still distance, in hindsight I realize I don't think he was in anyway prepared to be a father) if only because once I finally discovered his records I would've had way better taste as a teen.

No, I know they're Australian, but I was saying their music is firmly in the line of British bands like The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, and Primal Scream.  As such, that baggy sound would appeal to a British audience more than an American one.

I didn't realize he hadn't done the score for Moonrise, but now that I know it makes sense.  Still, I like Alexandre Desplat's score, and it makes me happy he's doing The Grand Budapest Hotel.
