Also, I feel like I underrate Graduation.  It was my first Kanye album.  I'm not claiming it's not a great record, it's just that it feels like a transition to something that never happened.  It's a great album, it's just an outlier in the Kanye discography, and as such less important to the modern music discussion.

One of my favorite parts of Adaptation is when Charlie Kaufman (in the film) becomes furious at his brother writing this easy, hacky screenplay and becoming successful, while his complex epic remains unfinished and unproduced.  You can almost feel (real-life) Kaufman laughing and angry at the same time.
