i think a lot of the notion of "crossing over" is less about the music and more about whether the artist is going with the Nashville flow or against it.

I would say it's hard to enjoy Strait unless you're listening to the radio; his songs are SO meant to be heard as singles in a sea of not-George-Strait that it's hard to listen to them all in a row.
