Venue's gonna be key in that one. In the water, shark wins without even trying as the gorilla sinks and drowns. In the jungle, I've got to go with the gorilla.

That's what they get for not hailing to the chimp.

Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes

I thought you were going to say that the connection between Scotty Schwartz's appearance in this movie and later in porn was something to do with mouths on poles.

Is this for real, or is he just taking the piss?

Q: (to young Axl Rose) Do you feel you have anything in common with Iron Maiden?

I once tried to figure out that difference enough to tell an ESL student (as a friend, not a teacher) why we have both those tenses. I had to admit it was a pickle to actually explain. The best I could come up with is that it's the difference between describing an event (I heard) or describing yourself as being in a

Nobody wants to bring up "Here Comes the Night"? Holy shit. They didn't get on the disco bandwagon, they got run over by it. For 11 straight minutes.

Just taking a moment to big up the Yo La Tengo cover of that song on their Upside-Down EP. Really, they probably did it better than the Beach Boys. That beat just doesn't fit the song of a weary, lonely drifter.

May I also humbly submit

Yeah, but he dies from asthma, not rabid dog. And then he went on to have a long and fruitful afterlife getting his house cleaned by Tony Danza who, if the title was to be believed, did not entirely respect his employer's authority.

Based on what's above, I wouldn't ask this crowd. I haven't read as much of him as everybody else - probably because I loved Gen X and then was afraid to touch anything else after finding Girlfriend in a Coma one of the worst books I've ever read. There's never a shortage of good books. Why gamble on this guy?

don't know him much as a musician, but he's a hell of a good interview.

the cover
This may not matter much, but that cover image is perfect. JC has always been kind of shameless in wanting to be like his idols from an earlier age and the "guy sitting in a chair" cover is a classic throwback. All Things Must Pass and GP spring immediately to mind but I'm sure there are scores of others and

No, but they shouldn't have started to suck either.

Ja, und Frank haste eine grosse schreipen!
