I'm not quite sure why, and it's been over three years since I read either, but I enjoyed Year of the Flood more than Oryx & Crake (and I LOVED O&C—favorite book I ever read for a class). I think I related to the characters more, and it also shed light on Jimmy/Snowman.

Is that the one where the ending is the hero realizing everyone is a lizard ("creep" I guess) and willingly eating one of the cookies, saying, "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em"?  Because, nope, totally don't remember that one, definitely didn't scar me for life or anything.

THE WITCHES!!!!!!!!! WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU SHOW THAT TO A KID?!?!?!

Am I your little sister? Probably not, but yeah, I didn't sleep for a long time because of that damn episode.

@Roswulf:disqus Hmmm, that seems unfair to the commentariat (who came up with that word? It's great). I don't need gushing—in fact, Donna Bowman's HIMYM reviews annoy me because she seems to enjoy every episode relentlessly.  But even though Sims claims to "love" GG, no actual episode review reflects that! We're

Yeah, the only girl named Rory I know is really an Aurora, which I think is a much prettier name anyway.

Well, he appears to think what everyone really cares about is Rory's romantic storylines, so I assume he only thinks this season is interesting starting with "They Shoot Gilmores, Don't They?" (Which is a great ep, no doubt. And I do care about Jess/Rory, because their relationship is the only one that ever made my

That's too bad, @avclub-392f765bed2826a22a4e84f0523b375c:disqus , Because the next season was probably one of the best the show ever produced with some really top-flight talent.  Goes rapidly downhill after that, though.

@avclub-362c94df8a8c6b76e42047bc8868847b:disqus, wow.  Apparently we both care about this a lot. :-)

I use the word "Bloaty" in conversation sometimes.

@avclub-362c94df8a8c6b76e42047bc8868847b:disqus, okay, you make some good points, but we're not talking about things like how cliche the "I Heart Hillary" essay is, or that you should have ECs coming out your ass—I liked that the girls were surprised and panicked about that. It makes sense that Rory (and Lorelei)

Lauren Tom is the Prophet's mom on Supernatural. I like to think that's actually Julie.

I don't think I've read or seen anything because of the show, but when all the queens on RPDR didn't know anything about Grey Gardens, I was totally flabbergasted and on my high horse about it, until I remembered that I've never seen it and only heard about it via Gilmore Girls (and TLo).

My father and I both serve as alumni interviewers for our small-but-prestigious (non-Ivy) alma mater. The school really recommends applicants do an interview, either at the school while on a visit, or with a local alum (obviously, some areas don't have any/many alumni in the area, but we've had applicants from all

That's the line I came here to quote! One of my favorites that I always try to fit into real life conversations (it mostly doesn't work).

@avclub-2c6d7f23f661010f5b0c2fa53517c29d:disqus , actually that was in S6's alternate reality, so we can't count it for canon :-)

K Tristan, because obvious.  F Logan, because he's probably pretty good at it, and he's okay in small doses.  M Jess and ride off into the sunset on ADVENTURES.  Is there some rule that you won't F the one you M?

"Gum would be perfection!"

TOWGS has probably one of my favorite conversations in Friends (close second: Moo Point):

I find this fascinating, akin to Tom & Lorenzo's Mad Style recaps.  I don't know much about costume designers, definitely not enough to recognize their names/style.
