TWD becomes far more enjoyable show when its binge watched. You can skip though most of the padding, bs story lines, and speeches that have already been made 5 times. Cheap cut to black cliffhangers become a non issue. 3 episodes make around one good hour.

Listening to the commentary it seems like Groenings influence and contribution were minimal. The writers aka Harvard lampoon crew were mostly responsible with the occasional advice/approval from brooks. Groening seems to have only contributed some arbitrary rules about the rules of the universe and continuity
