No, she was definitely more competent than about half the competitors, but I feel like she's only lasted to the final five (or whatever they're at) because she drives other people crazy. And she definitely has had her moments, like when she tanked the red team by spending all of prep cleaning shellfish instead of what

Wait a second, is there a BBC version separate from the BBC America version? Now I'm going to be digging through torrents . . .

Bar Rescue suffers from this as well. Not that it matters: the second season has gone from "Reasonable Hell's Kitchen knock-off" to "Let's watch the host scream at people and ruin their business".

We'd avoided the Fox show as more reality show screaming until we got so addicted to the BBC version we broke down and watched both. I think the on-set experience is probably 95 to 100% the same on the shows, but Fox blatantly adds MORE DRAMA. They do this through a few devices:

Do less than 100% of the contestants on Top Chef smoke? If so, maybe it's time I change over.

I have no idea why my wife and I are still watching Hell's Kitchen, but I have to argue with this specific case. While in general the chefs do tend to use any differentiator, including race, to pick out who to get rid of, I think the problem is actually the scripted/ forced drama. So now I need to watch Honey Boo Boo to know I don't like it? I get what you're going for, but given the average reality show (and thanks to my wife, I've seen plenty of them), as a hard-and-fast rule it comes across as contrarian for the sake of it. Do I need to start reading romance novels as well before I can laugh

"So You Think You Can Bunhead?"

That's a killer on "Wheeler Dealers". Just tell me how much you sold the thing for, because the idea this is the 45th person you've dragged a camera crew out to haggle with stretches credulity a touch.

I'm not really clear how an argument based on the hypothesis "Gambit sucks" could ever be wrong. You could be arguing the water isn't wet and I'd give you your day in court if it came tied to that hypothesis.
