"Chrysta Bell is vamping her role way too much"
Filing that under Lynch gonna Lynch. Her exaggerated swing while walking in a tight suit, Nafessa WIlliam playing a very naked pro. That stuff is going to keep bloggers busy I guess.

Bobby Briggs's career choice makes sense. That's one of the places I expect asshole high-school jocks to end. I wish he were a better actor though. Him crumpling up on seeing Laura's pic deserved a better scene. His was more like when Michael Bluth asks Lindsay "What're you doing, are you trying to cry?"
At least his replacement has the same dependable-guy vibe. Robert Forster was great in Jackie Brown.
I got a silly smile seeing Dougie's house number. I was high so hope I'm right, but the number was broken down in two lodge scenes.
It's getting there. I'd like to see Rain Man Cooper gone soon. MacLachlan seems to be having a ball playing so many different shades of a same character (or a face).
Part of it is Frost, who I think keeps it grounded in conventional narrative. I don't mean it to be a diss to either. And part of it is maybe we're getting better at following Lynch. I wouldn't have figured out the numerical clues so easily a few years ago.
It's a nice loop back to his entry in the original run. The man does love his sensual pleasures. Wanted to chomp on some brie and buttered baguette after watching it the first time. You're right about David Patrick Kelly. He's fucking game for Lynch's stuff. Dropshadow in Wild at Heart, case in point.
My bad, mixed 3 and 4 together. 3 was less so, the "funny" parts of 4 were grating. Denise was tolerable, Andy and Lucy were not. Together they felt like fan service.
I should add, I didn't like Wild at Heart until second viewing. At the same time, when I watch this again, I think I'm going to hit >> hard when Andy and…
Andy and Lucy are effective in minuscule doses. I thought I hated the cellphone gag until the biker son showed up. God fucking damn that tried my patience. 3 and 4 veered dangerously towards fan service.
ETA: I did enjoy the yellow and lime green color palette and a nod to Sycamore.
James has always been cool.
LIES.
It's your narrative. Many of us latecomers (myself, four years ago) liked it fine the first time we saw it.
I disagree, if anything it holds up better than most 90s shows. It's a black comedy with every transgression imaginable. The four leads are shitty selfish people and the show runners make it very clear that you're meant to laugh at them, not with them. It's different from the very iffy gay jokes on Frasier.
It's a perfect marriage of well-meaning idiots and cynical click-hungry writers and editors. This piece of shit, for instance was posted on not one but two fairly big "liberal" sites.
10 “Seinfeld” episodes that are racist and sexist in retrospect
These are the dumb times we live in. Lynch's work has always showed women getting hurt by dark powerful men with a skin-crawling intensity. Noir and Lynch both have a strong female following. Perhaps the pearl clutchers should ask them why it is so.
Thanks, I'm just the type of nerd who took a day off today to rewatch and read reviews. Thanks to you it's gonna be a very good day.
Where are you seeing 3 and 4? Unless this is a joke in which case haha you got me carry on etc.
I'm going to have to watch these again for them to make more sense. First viewing was as as expected, a crazy drunken nightmare.
Random first thoughts:
Evil Cooper's dead black eyes is a great touch as was adding dimension to the zigzag pattern.
RIP Log Lady, if you want more of her, she provides intro on the DVD set.
Chro…
Lynch said these days trailers ruin the watching experience by giving away major details. I agree, besides the show is about mystery. Also most Lynch joints don't fare too well on first viewing so this seems fine.
Me too, pal, me too. Just want to hi5 the OG fans who kept the faith for 25+ years. I came into this world 4-ish years ago.
Unless I don't know internet at all, I'm looking forward to season 3 getting ripped apart. My money's on dumb assholes finding parts of it "problematic."
