Moonrise Kingdom was my favorite film of the year, but it's hard for me to pick a single scene out from the bunch. If I had to pick one, it would be either the montage of letter writing or the climax at the top of the church, which was beautifully photographed.

I just saw both the original and the American version thanks to the Criterion Collection. The human story's kind of crap, but the effects are good for it's time, and it has a great score. Also you can't beat those pounding steps at the beginning.
