What struck me about the film was that while it was in a sense horrific, it was more sad than scary. It's not a story about good vs. evil, it's about good people driven to do bad things. And the Jarre score is, in my opinion, about as good as his score for Lawrence of Arabia.

I love how, for all his intelligence and being a doctor, Kubrick basically makes him as dumb as a post, like how he basically repeats anything anyone says to him.
