And Perfect Couples, which was part of the same crop of 6-episode wonders that all had almost the same premise, of which Happy Endings was the only one to emerge. And I LOVE Happy Endings, but Perfect Couples was a funny show upon re-watch.

His answers were a lot like what "psychics" do when you get a crystal ball reading or whatever. Very vague, but the victim (for lack of a better term) wants to believe so they'll read their own meaning into every answer.

I feel like this probably all started off as a joke that I took too seriously, but I'm going to continue with: seriously? It's one thing if your kid goes off to college and semester after semester doesn't seem to be going in any direction or is clearly just partying, but you wouldn't want to allow the kid to explore

Hey when I went off to Penn I didn't know what I was going to major in! And then I majored in American History, minored in English and Marketing, and now I design internet products for a living, and my boss majored in history too! My mom changed majors like 45 times and she's a psychologist. My dad majored in physics

Hate to be pedantic or whatever, but you must mean the improvement in quality the show made in the back half of its FIRST season, not second.

Hear hear. I just caught up on this, and as a regular AV Club TV snob, this deserves attention. It's not perfect, but wow is it gripping.

I would go so far as to say that it's NICER than 30 Rock. I LOVE 30 Rock, but like… This has way more heart-on-its-sleeve emotion and way less Liz Lemon making cynical lady jokes.
