I was excited about this, and generally really like Naifeh, but couldn't get through the first issue due to the fact they keep writing out the accents (which I find excruciating). Does that continue all the way through the series?

I really liked it too, also because I was in a similar situation. My mom grew up in Puerto Rico, then moved here, and I took after my absent white dad. I know that I'm essentially a USA white girl, but it's hard not to claim my mom's identity as my own sometimes. I do wish we got a little more of their Puerto Rican…
I am so psyched for this book, everything I've read from Gay has been amazing. Her Rumpus essays have always delighted.
Yeah, one thing I really like about Tank is that he is obviously a nice guy, but he's still got a pretty big flaw in his undying loyalty to his frat (I had friends that went Greek while I didn't, and it was a pretty big bizarre culture difference that first year).
Thanks! That definitely makes sense. So hopefully he still is going, just not for a while.
I found this pretty unbelievable, even for Angelo. I guess they are going for a "Haha, Angelo can't handle money angle," but who wouldn't ask for a detailed budget/list of expenses if you're going to renovate a restaurant? He didn't win THAT much in the court ruling, you'd think he'd at least be aware he needs to…
My roommate and I were talking about this because I could have sworn that Toby did (eventually) get accepted into college after being on the wait list, and I was pretty sure he was going to go. Did I make that whole thing up, or did he get accepted and they just never made a decision about it?
Mytly, that is something I don't understand either. Why *aren't* they wearing wedding rings and acting like they are married? Seems like living together with their daughter would be perfect cover, and yet that whole plot line seems to have been forgotten. And I'm pretty sure as long as Angelo's paying money, her boss…
Yeah, it really annoys me how Bay and Daphne don't appear to have friends (other than Emmett). I know the cast is already huge, but it just seems so out of character for teenagers.
Ha! Awesome. That looks ridiculous, and I'll eat it up. Thanks! (referring to your link to the promo)
Wait, are you guys being serious? I didn't watch the "What's coming up next!" part.
My work (a University) does extensive per-marital counseling for the state communities. I think if you get it done the state waives your marriage license fee or something like that; so people that don't attend churches where it's required have an incentive to take it. You'd be amazed at how many people never think to…
I finally got to see this last night, and I really agree with your Toby/Nikki point. Nikki especially seems really grounded for a teenager, and while I get Toby is feeling left out from his sisters' drama and wants someone to love, I don't buy that they'd both agree to a fast marriage. I understand he thinks she'll…
It almost seems like they've completely forgotten the whole "sham marriage" part of the story in regards to Angelo/Regina. I do like how they're making Angelo step up to the plate. I thought it really appropriate how Bay didn't know how to sing his praises to Lana since he really had been exhibiting shitty behavior in…
You're right, I misunderstood the scene.
Would Noah really acquire a "deaf" accent in such little time? This is an honest question, not a dig at ABCfamily. Because that's how I took that scene too, but I didn't really hear an accent at all. But I still don't really understand the mechanics of being a speaking deaf person, either.
YES. I think she looks even older than her actual age, and her as a teenager (especially with the new hair) is not working at all for me. I really wish they could get her out of high school.
I realize this is a ridiculous complaint seeing how it's an ABCfamily drama, but I'm always amazed at how fast these kids go through relationships. I dated in high school, but no where near the amount they do. It's like they strike one down and immediately fire up the next.
They have really got to stop with the stupid hashtag prompts. I find it hard to believe they think that's a good idea, especially when the only reason people used the first one of "#DaphneDumped" on twitter was to make fun of it. Don't make this a thing, ABC Family.
Not much for actually reading the text, huh? This is a Stuff We Missed article.
