That is what the book series is about.  And it is kinda written from the point of view of  Ghost Sutton who doesn't have all of her memories, and things get teased out as she remembers certain events.  Also in the books, Ethan is and was never Sutton's boyfriend.  Emma is forced to pose as Sutton by the unknown killer.

I have actually been enjoying this season thus far, but oh GOOD LORD am I SO happy to have Peter back.  I have been watching old season 1 episodes just to get my fix of Peter.
