Well, stop Putin us on!

I was pretty shocked, and to see people under 20 buying them was like walking through a wormhole.

Replace Best Buy with Chamelot Music and Books a Million with the adult section of the video store and you just described my ideal junior high Saturday.

I tried to find a cheap portable CD player last year and was surprised by how many cassette players were for sale. I also noticed lots of teens buying CDs (I looked to make sure they weren't games). Best Buy is a different world from the one we live in now.

I don't know. The parents of the teens and preteens I teach are old af. I mean, I'm 40, and I think, wow, how is someone nearly a generation older than me capable of having a ten year old child?

Did you know he's actually allergic to orphans? Let that sink in a minute.

He was more fascinating than hilarious. The things he did for no audience at all except Bob Zmuda and Laurie Anderson are, if you're someone like me, goddamn mind blowing. As for actually funny, his feud with Jerry Lawler was outright hilarious. His character on "Taxi," not so much - kind of a bad sitcom version of

I kind of feel the opposite way. Judging from "Broadway the Hard Way," it seems he was pretty tired of the rock band thing and used those concerts mostly as a political mouthpiece.

Ok - note to self - remember Li'l Debbie when sick or hung over.

I'm an old man, but I had the flu in 2012 and went into a rabbit hole of bad hip hop on youtube. I completely relate to Rabin's "this is not for me but I'm kind of obsessed with what's going on here" mentality. Fortunately for me, my obsession faded when I was able to leave the house again. Helps that I never use my

I'll bite. N.W.A. had the perfect storm of irresistible beats, genuine witticism, charismatic personas (fabricated they may be) that came through in their delivery, and a braggadocio and image of invulnerability that still holds an attraction. As far as the violent content of their lyrics, at the time it was less of a

That song was the one reason I never bought that tape. I was too young to either hide it well or not have my folks look at the names of the songs. In retrospect, not a big loss.

Nah, I just get tired lazy interviews and shitty internet wanna be comedians. Feel free to put yourself in that latter category, little man.

Yeah, it seems like this charity might not be so great after all and I might have spoken too early. Still, for a hatesong, this is a pretty big fish in a pretty small barrel. I guess I expected better from Ira Kaplan.

Yeah, I live in NY. Plenty of people move here and then realize they don't need their cars. This jingle helps them donate a hunk of metal that worth exactly $300 for a good cause.

I have friends that went to Belmont. They tour in christian/young country bands that their parent listen to and I get obscure premiers in art museums for for a negligible amount of cash. God damn Belmont.

Great article! Well written and researched. Man, AV needs more of this.

Re: mp3s, It depends on what you're listening on. An average speaker setup, it can be pretty hard to tell the difference. But decent speakers or even headphones, I can usually tell the difference. I think I was 80% on that NPR quiz with the highest quality and 100% on the lowest.

You can get a laptop with a "power drive" (no self respecting tech company will ever say CD) or you can get an external disc drive, which doesn't cost that much.

Your argument re: Stromae holds no water. Everything he's done has gone through traditional channels - record labels, paid distribution and promotion by said labels, high production value music videos paid for by said labels, etc. Just because he makes the music at home (which I don't believe is the case anymore)
