I'm back! I dropped off the show for a few weeks and then played catch up on a day off last week. The show remains good but it is very satisfying to marathon, too. I wasn't spoiled for David Hyde Pierce being in this, so that was an excellent surprise. Random notes:

I had no expectations for this but I actually laughed out loud at the Greg the Best Buy employee interview.

That ghosting scene was so stellar.

I think it's going to turn out inconclusive. I think a lot of modern crime fiction has lulled us into a false sense of security that the truth is always going to be found out, even if it's ten years later or twenty years later. I recently read about a murder which is basically never going to get solved conclusively

Eh, I'll hold out until Gourley gets HR Giger as a guest. Then we can talk about slamdunks, and scarebags.

I thought Gemberling played the exasperated senator in the first scene. Fucking gold.

As a fan of warm salads (not hot, just warm) I wanted to quibble regarding Hodgman's definition of salads as cold but then I realized I don't genuinely care about such things.

I'd have to re-listen to the episode but I got the sense she had a problem with the potential vilification of this particular monkey for the portrayal of a devious monkey, but also of monkeys in general, but not in a way that made it seem like she was necessarily invoking the slippery slope argument. I think, like in

I probably came off a bit too strong/overly defensive because Ibushi is in my top 5 of Japanese wrestlers, and I've never seen him anything but excel, but then I must remember my puro-watching is limited. I understand your point of view now, even if I can't say I agree.

Thanks for the heads up. I think most wrestling fans are just hungry for something new at this point and will probably keep LU several weeks to impress, knowing who's in it and who's coming up. Plus if you really just want AAA, they have a lot of programming up on youtube legally for free, so you can get a dose from

They switched to streaming on NicoNico, a Japanese site with an English version. I've never used it but people on Twitter reported it worked fine.

Wait, you don't think Kota Ibushi has had it all together? What. Have you seen his matches against Okada or El Generico? The one against Kenny Omega? Dude.

Their loss. Ricochet is young as hell, and already such a skilled pro. He can make money in just about any company in the world. If they don't see the potential now (shortsighted to see him as just a flippy guy, dude does things nobody else in the world can do), they'll probably come around to it in 5-8 years.

Lucha Underground, yes please! I'm really hoping this is a good thing, and based on everything I've heard, it just might be. Certainly the level of talent is there. Hopefully the storylines are worthwhile, as well.

First of all, yay, I was wondering where I could discuss Jane the Virgin! I think it says a lot that people get hung up on virginity, both as a thing to maintain or a thing to lose as fast as humanly possible. Depending on who you talk to, chances are they'll judge because you waited or because you didn't. With that

I don't know, dude, rather than take "chick flick" as an insult, why not take this opportunity to re-contextualize what "women-orientated cinema" can mean? Did your wife actually mean it as an insult? Because oddly enough there seem to be a lot of ladies who actually love what is derisively called chick flicks, and

I too am bummed out about JtV not getting covered. I know it's a total Americanized telenovela so it might be a little too silly for some the AVC crowd (a lot of the comments on the review it got just didn't seem to get what the show was going for, like of course the premise is ridiculous and unrealistic), but still,

I don't know if it's just the discussion here putting the idea in my head or whether Goode is intentionally playing it like Finn maaaaybe has something to hide from Alicia after all. It could just be our paranoia but Alicia showed a brief moment of paranoia as well, by being like "Why would you say that?" when he made

Intriguing. I'd put my money on Alicia's reputation being ruined somehow (this season it seems more likely than ever) and it being so severe a scandal that Peter can leave her. But even then, seems likely he'd stick by her. For the optics, as Eli would say.

Where the hell is their IT guy to be like "don't click on silly things without asking me first, goddammit"? I really didn't care for this episode arc, as it seemed sort of contrived.
