While I expect Gravity to win the Cinematography Oscar in a walk, it would be hilarious if the Coens' film won it the first time in forever that Roger Deakins is not behind the camera.

A fate worse than death.

One of the directors said that the rumour about them using the "Paperman" method on Moana is false. It's not advanced enough yet to use in feature animation.

Edit: For some reason I was logged out of my AV Club account. Stupid NuDisqus.

At first glance you might think that you'd require writing talent to make up for it, but based on what he's actually written, apparently not.

It's no more ludicrous than their portrayal of everything from the college admissions process (which in this show occurs primarily in May of a given year), theatre auditions, show choir, school, political campaigns, or human behaviour.

She ditched him at some unspecified point last season, and took up with Big Sean shortly thereafter. Recently she unfollowed him on Twitter, so I guess it wasn't a "let's stay friends" situation.

I kept wondering what drugs the person who wrote this episode was on the whole time. Wow.

Bree's final talk with Jake was a major case of "pot calling the kettle black" (I also have no idea why she's acting offended at him sleeping with other girls as if they have an actual relationship), but it was true enough. My main problem with this story is that, after like a season and a quarter, Jake finally

The box office results for the later films since they started trying that naming strategy suggest it does help a lot, though, so I can see why they do it.

I thought it was terrific, apart from the music, which continues to be the weakest point of Disney's 00s revival of fairy tale movies. Alan Menken in his prime supplied even the generally-regarded-as-inferior post-Lion King 90s films with superb soundtracks, but this, Princess and the Frog and Tangled really have one

Looking at the IMDb entry, Forrest Whitaker's name is "Cornell Cobbs". Bwahahaha!

One of my favourite Cooper lines, describing how Pete's grandfather sold off the Dyckman holdings in New York in 1929: "Some people have no confidence in this country."

Yeah, I expect it will go somewhere; I mean more how it will affect characterization.

They've said we will meet him at some point, but at least not in the first half of the season, where they're focusing on setting up the main cast.

The "Boyle saves Thanksgiving"/"Boyle believes obvious lie" bit was my favourite.

I would have liked some explanation for why Boyle wasn't with his family, since he strikes me as the type to be really into family gatherings, but I guess that can be chalked up to the chance to spend time with Diaz.

A-.

She's slightly on the young side to be Andre Braugher's mom (though she was also a little young to have college-aged children in The Cosby Show, so there's precedent there), but then, Tyson and especially Dee are a bit on the old side to be a sitting federal judge. Well, maybe not Tyson, but even John Paul Stevens

After arguably overdoing it a bit on having Peralta drive the plot by screwing up and learning lessons about being a cop, this episode is more how I think the show should work: Peralta is very good at his job, but is very goofy about how he does it.
