No, damnit, Liam Neeson as John Brown.
Okay, but only if they're allowed to relocate the story to America and cast Will Smith in the lead.
So…based on this episode, is there any real reason to hope the president doesn't get assassinated, seeing as he's apparently an irredeemably evil rapist and would-be murderer? Isn't that supposed to be the show's central dilemma?
As bizarre as the original video is, nothing is weirder than the song itself, which sounds like three different songs randomly mashed together.
I think The Wolverine is my favourite comic book movie of the year. There seems to be a bit of a consensus that people found the climax disappointing, which I didn't really agree with.
I've liked both of Affleck's subsequent films (particularly Argo), but to date Gone Baby Gone remains by far my favourite piece of work from him. Powerful piece of work, with a very uncompromising ending.
Books/Comics:
He didn't actually do chemistry tests. Colfer has said he doesn't do those.
Francis Lawrence has two major structural advantages over Gary Ross in directing:
It's confirmed. She's said in interviews. She had a nasty-sounding injury to her spine that took her out of filming for a month.
Have we just completely lost the feature that notifies you of responses to your comments, or is that just buried somewhere in this new layout and I can't see it?
For the record, Pitt's character's actions are pretty much verbatim from the source account of what happened.
"Funniest it can be without falling apart" strikes me as a rather difficult criterion to judge a film by, so I would say the latter. It's a light comedy that also has significant dramatic elements.
I loved Wreck-It Ralph. There's some great irony in Disney producing what was in my view clearly the best animated movie of 2012 by departing from formula, only to lose Best Animated Feature to a Pixar movie that is more or less a sub-optimal riff on the Disney formula.
I love Fiddler on the Roof. Older musicals tend to be extremely sanitized in look, but I think this one has a very nice realistic aesthetic befitting the subject. And it's a damn sad story, when you get down to it.
I quite liked Midnight in Paris (certainly his most enjoyable comedy film in a long time), though I think Match Point and Blue Jasmine are his best overall films in recent years.
I'm spending most of my time trying to write a paper for Thursday that's worth 90% of my course grade, so very little time for pop culture right now (how inconvenient). I took a break on Saturday night and rewatched Shakespeare in Love, a movie I still love — I'll defend its Best Picture win any day of the week…
My favourite sketch was the Kanye/Kim talk show, though mainly for Pedrad and Pharaoh. They should try that with stronger "guest" characters. Kim's delight at being called a genius, as well as saying "okay" at being called a philosopher, were my favourite parts.
That doesn't really seem much like Hal to me, to be honest.
