I thought those kids with Susan Sarandon were meant to indicate she had a family or something, so it seemed like she hadn't just been waiting around.

I liked it as a whole, though for all that it gets praised for ambition it's appreciably much less so than the book.  Obviously, many of the changes are just because we need to keep the running time to about 3 hours as it is, but others aren't time-necessitated, they're about more obvious/"relatable" payoffs for the

It's a good album.  She's got a talent for catchy music, even if by now she's strayed pretty far away from country — several tracks on this wouldn't be out of place on a U2 album.
