I watched Melancholia this week and I could not work out why it's been getting such good reviews. Aside from the fact that pretty much every character was a horrible cunt, I couldn't get over the fact that Kirsten Dunst and Charlotte Gainsbourg were cast as sisters despite looking nothing alike. Also, I can't stand

It would've completed the trilogy.

Turns out it's just Danny from 30 Rock, and he was dead the whole time.

Wait, so it's not a Wicker Man sequel?

Oh every week there's a canal! Or an inlet. Or a fjord.

Good point, although I'd counter that decent comedies are pretty thin on the ground these days. I guess that makes the rare one that works all the better, but as a fan of the genre I really wish more people knew how to be witty.

"Texting or Non-Texting?"

Also, most films aren't worth seeing on the big screen anyway, unless you feel like a carnival ride.

That really is a good strategy (so long as you have a choice in theatres). If that shit got introduced in my neck of the woods, I'd follow that logic and make sure those charlatans don't get any of my hard-earned.

NOW IST THE TIME ON SPROCKETS VHEN VE DANCE!

Das ist nicht eine boobie!

@avclub-33beffd09a1b020d1187c6b4b264014a:disqus I believe you mean "dem purty pictures," if memory serves.

OK, throw him in the hole!

Dammit, O'Neal, I came here to post that joke and you beat me in the first fucking line. It's not like anyone else would've thought of that obscure reference.

@avclub-4c37107b9dedb73b90f677930bf7728b:disqus : It's easy to watch and enjoy, say, SOTD without having ever seen a zombie film, but there's no way the film would've been as good if Edgar Wright etc. weren't life-long Romero diehards. A loving appreciation is essential in the making of a good parody, not necessarily

And how could I forget the montage of Nate and Dewey playing at the start? The escalation within that little minute is amazing, especially when they're playing chicken. Oh man I could talk about that film all day.

Thirteen Tales… was a well-worn staple of my teenager years, and I would still defend that album to the death. That being said, every album after that disappointed to the point where I pretended they didn't exist any more. Sounds like it was a good move.

That's why I'm here.

That line about Dewey Cox having to remember his whole life story before performing is an amazing line as well. How many films have used that trope I wonder?
