Sam used to be involved in every storyline by proxy of all the characters coming together at Merlotte's. Even though they in theory still work together, any interaction shown there is so brief or cursory that you almost assume that no one even looks each other in the eye to recognize a shared presence in the same room.

But on top of the baby stealing ghost woman (which was tied to both Lafayette AND Hoyt's old house with Jessica) and Terry's now defined ifrit demon, let us not forget about Arlene's random visions of Rene. If Rene is a manifestation of the ifrit, I will be laughing a hearty laugh.

Are you trying to say that True Blood also isn't soul-suckingly lacking imagination? It's harshly reviewed because it should be better, and has the potential to be better, but time after each increasingly frustrating time it take a predictable or wildly boring route.
