It's such a complex discussion, the blurred lines between homage and plagiarism. But both Mauvais Sang and Frances Ha have the main character run through the city while David Bowie's Modern Love is playing. I'd say it is an homage (and I think, a beautiful one) from Baumbach.
From the trailer only, I see Malick, Cianfrance, Winding Refn and Carax.
Random observation, but I find it interesting that they cast two actors from Looking in an episode which was largely about gay marriage.
So many Veronica Mars vibes. I mean "Life is short and then you die" in here, "Life is a bitch and then you die" in the VM pilot. Rob Thomas is back.
"This feels very permanent for some reason. Why does this feel permanent?" I think they nailed the feeling you have when you say goodbye to someone you love, and you know things will be different when you come back without really knowing "how" or "why". This episode was filled with sadness and worry. Then again, I…
You're very welcome.
It's Drops by Jungle. And this band is awesome.
I just want to applaud the choice of music at the end of every episode of Looking. I mean, it's one of these shows where you want to actually turn the volume up at the end credits. I love it. This week was no exception and I can't stop listening to this cover of Finally by Cherry Ghost.
I have a soft spot for this song. It was on Six Feet Under, in the great episode "Terror Starts at Home" and then, in Parenthood. Gets me every time.
Some of my favorites moments of Parenthood :
We will never be the same, here in France. Charb, one of the journalists who died today said, back in 2012 : "I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees." Silence has never been an option for Charlie Hebdo.
Well, Je Suis Charlie. I am Sorrow.
Well, there are so many great things to say about this episode, I don't even know where to start. Oh yes : that little whistle Finn gave Alicia after Peter kept interrupting him was so good(e). I like Finn's wit.
I wish Clarke Hayden would pop up next time and magically find a solution to get a mistrial. And then, when asked how he did it, he would just say, with a little smile : "Well, I like… the law." And then, he and Cary would hug and cry. And then…
I don't know why, but Alicia talking about the glass at the office made me think about what she said back in season 1 : "Yes, every time we sell a piece of our souls, we buy glass."
He's already moved on to other things in his head.
Thank you. I was starting to panic.
Very interesting theory.
Somehow I wouldn't be surprised to see the season or the show end with Wes walking off Keyser Söze style. He's too nice to be honest, especially in Shondaland.
"You do not have permission to mess with my dreams." I loved that scene.
