That is some truly amazing feigned outrage.

The case-of-the-week in that episode was pretty dire, we're in total agreement there, but I find the home base scenes at the dollhouse x1000000 times more interesting than the home base scenes in the SHIELD plane.

Personally, I feel that the episodes tier out like this:

That was an improvement over the dire second episode but still nothing special (the respective third episodes of past Whedon shows were all easily better). This show is still probably the third best new network show so far this fall - after Sleepy Hollow and Brooklyn 99 - but has a lot of freakin' work to do to get to

You don't really need to compare Agents of SHIELD to dark cable shows to find it coming up wanting in many aspects. I went right from AoS to Supernatural (a show with a budget of a heckuva lot lower than AoS's) last night and the difference in fun and quality action scenes and engaging genre storytelling and pure

Skye: Whoa, high school dropout here!

Short answer: Yes. If you like genre action-adventure shows with a love for building mythology, and which are serious about their horror movie tropes but not excessively serious about anything else, with a strong mix of solid cases-of-the-week and arc episodes, with a dollop of gore, plenty of humor and very strong

The new title card is seriously awesome.

You have failed this city!

Pretty solid premiere, though I have to admit that I'm kind of itching to get to seeing what kind of cases-of-the-week they come up with this year. This show (along with Hannibal and the recently departed Fringe) is one of the scant few where I actually look forward to the cases/freaks of the week instead of just

I find something about this show's weirdly long, insanely over-elaborate "previously on"s unsettling.

This Joel character just symbolizes a problem that shows like this have had since time immemorial (or since the 90s, anyway): How much can you really invest in a romantic interest that is very, very clearly not going to stick? This is less of a problem in a sitcom, where they can still wring laughs out of the

Favorite line: "I will rain legal brimstone down on you so hard it will make God jealous."
Daaamn!

I liked Mother Russia as a villain.

I certainly didn't think much of The Lone Ranger, but as someone for whom John Carter was juuust outside of my top ten last year, I can at least relate to where he's coming from. Sometimes you're in just the right mood and state of mind when you walk into the theater, a big dumb goofy CGI spectacle tickles your fancy

B is definitely what would happen if this was 24, anyway.

@avclub-7168bb1710a8992c120e727bad9f9df8:disqus Mike is dealing with James Spader on The Blacklist.

Chris pestering his mom in the kitchen was such a quintessential "useless Chris" scene. Though I don't know if anything for the rest of the series can top him in the safe house last season.
