I thought the first movie succeeded in terms of atmosphere and art direction. Silent Hill, the town itself I mean, was appropriately creepy.

The visuals and overall tone of the movie were top-notch. As was Fassbender, because he's a badass. There were a lot of issues with the script that I will readily acknowledge, but I still think it was the second best film in the series.
