oh, man, I could totally see Lanigan saying that stuff to Bamford. I remember watching him host the wuab prize movie in the afternoons- all he had to do was spin a wheel and read a name, and he still radiated a dickish vibe.

I've seen Bamford's standup a few times, and this is the first time I've ever found her funny. Maybe I need to take a recording of her act and animate it up, like the Ricky Gervais show. Anyway, yay me, I've joined all the rest of you now.

I have been both really intrigued and frustrated by these past few seasons. It feels like I'm watch a mystery play for a religion that's still being codified. When Adam Whitman started popping up, I started to wonder if Mad Men's last season was going to look like Lost's.

No need to apologize for taste. Anyways, I didn't care for Duke at all- seemed to combine the worst aspects of their old and (then-) new styles. Wouldn't have mentioned it, but I'm genuinely surprised at the love it's getting here.

I always thought one of the biggest differences between me and actual musicians is that when they play a Neapolitan chord, it sounds poignant, while when I do it on my guitar, it sounds like the speaker is trying to poop.

Hmm, don't see Stay myself, but it certainly marks a theme. I always had the impression the guy was a through-and-through quiet English gentleman, a natural candidate for "I *really* don't like this rock star stuff, but ooh, the drugs sure take the edge off." Poor guy; could an argument be made that he was the most…

I was so-so on that song until I saw some concert video of Peter Gabriel singing it and air-mowing, all the while dressed like some kind of farmer-elf. That sold me forever.

It's a good wintry album. I could definitely imagine it as a soundtrack for skiing.

Interesting! I never noticed that about Summer 68. What are its siblings? If I had to guess I would say It Would Be So Nice and See Saw, but I don't see either one is as solidly put together as Summer.

I've always had a soft spot for Genesis … And Then There Were Three… The songs have a murky, spooky feel to them, the aural equivalent of something moving beneath thick black glass. But it's a dirty word among the prog fans I have known, because it has their first "sell-out" song, Follow You Follow Me (the…

Well, I haven't. Should I have been siding with Arcade Fire and Beck all along in the great Indie Wars?
