I've never read any of the comics but I've never understood how the two universes really mix. X-Men always seems to be about the persecution of mutants. In the MCU, people basically worship the superheroes. The civil rights backbone of X-Men doesn't really work in the MCU.

As a Minnesotan, I'm pretty impressed by how accurate the little details of the show are. One thing they didn't get across as well- Luverne and Sioux Falls are only about a half hour apart. It felt like half of this episode was people driving for hours to try to get to Sioux Falls.
