I thought the author more meant that Wright's previous work in parodies is what honed the skills that went into making Baby Driver work so well as a genre mashup.

I can't weigh in on Lost City, but I really enjoyed Baby Driver, and I think the beautifully choreographed car chases & action really benefited from the big screen experience.

Yeah, the key is to be ready to go if the mood sours. We always ask for the check and settle up as soon as the food is served, for example. If the kid's in a good mood, we can still take our time, but if we've got to go we can.

My sister was relatively recently diagnosed with celiac, and has been talking about how she's mostly trying out different gluten-free offerings and sorting them into the categories of "actually ok", "resembles food", or "not food". She's definitely still in the anger stage of her mourning process for gluten.

One, you're assuming I have a car, or that I chose the restaurant. The first time this happened to me, I was using public transportation, and was meeting family members at the place they picked. Am I supposed to insist that all restaurants be vetted for bathroom facilities when people make plans? There was no

As with anything else, it varies with the baby. When my daughter was still in the "cute houseplant" stage of baby-dom, we'd take her out to all sorts of nice restaurants without incident. We'd show up right when they opened for dinner, before the rush, and she'd be calm and happy (or sleeping) through the entire

If I'm in a restaurant where they don't have any changing tables in the bathroom, and no counter space in said bathroom that can safely fit my kid, then I ask if they've got somewhere I can change her. If they don't, then I'm doing it on a bench or chair or something - it has to happen, and they didn't provide any

I get that it's possible to do it right, but it definitely is a lot more work, and I'm not sure I understand what the additional gain is for the person doing it.

And it was in a neighborhood where there's tons of great restaurants. We went somewhere else right afterwards to get real food.

We were meeting some work friends of my husband's for lunch one time, and they picked a (pretty terrible) vegan restaurant. Most of the food was tasteless and bland, and all I could bring myself to eat was the edamame. Finally, near the end I couldn't help myself, so I asked "ok, fess up - which one of you is the

Totally agree - I'd seen a little bit of one of his movies when I was younger, because of that "playing cello in the marching band" skit, but never even tried anything else of his because by the time I was old enough I was too grossed out by how inextricable his real life issues are from the movies he makes.

But none of that makes Woody Allen any less creepy. I'm not sure I see your point.

Pregnancy involves enough body horror even when it's going well and it's something you know you want - I don't know how that character would even decide to have a kid. But, that's giving way too much brain space to a very silly movie, I think.

Which is, itself, pretty darn stupid - I always hated that story. I would never want someone I loved to give up something precious to them just so they could buy me a present. I'd feel awful every time I used it/saw it.

Clearly not

So, are you a big fan of the ending of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind? Because reading your post, that was the first thing that popped into my head.

Or, Katara + someone we didn't meet - I mean, at the end of the show they're all still kids. They get paired off even earlier than the Harry Potter set. But yes, her chemistry with Zuko is much much better.

I also disliked the part where Rizzo sings about how it's wrong to flirt with a guy but then not sleep with him. I know there's other parts of that song that aren't so bad, but that part…ugh.

Sure, except that the comic book store owner gets more stories and development than those girlfriends and wives do.

It's a show about scientists, and they added two female scientists to the regular casts, but just treat them like girlfriends, not scientists. And, if it were a good show, they would have recognized the potential for new stories that the female additions to the cast represented and made good narrative use of them.
