Oh, didn't see this until after I posted above. Maybe he is that bad & the worship of British actors in US tv & movies is an "Emperor's New Clothes" phenomenon.

Thought he was going for comedy as Reny Baratheon—kind of a cartooonish fop I forgave because it was thrilling that the GOT showrunners allowed a hint of gay romance in their could have been so much more innovative fantasy world, which mostly fixated on the rape of women by men. But really this must be poor writing &

Yes, there were plenty of folks going through repression & shame who were still great parents.

Chad, it's a real thing & if i were braver i'd be sending the clip to at least 15 yoga teachers of that age & complexion, One talked for five minutes at the beginning of class about how she opened herself up to the universe by saying"Wouldn't it be nice if there was a handsome guy walking with me now to Trader Joe's"

Did he actually have sex with her, or just facilitate/direct the other women to do so?

Yes, the reality of the LAPD back then when they had no oversight went so far beyond the "one brave patriotic tough but paradoxically enlightened old school hero cop" Hodiak. Institutionalized corruption, homophobia & racism well documented—not just a reaction to youth/black activism.

There was a mesmerizing tv movie about Jonestown.

The line you quote, like several others Duchovny killed, played just like Hank in Californication but did not fit with his actual parenting style with his son as Hodiak.

He keeps flipping back into cleancut hippie adorable tho, so he's not earning the seduction with dirty greasy sleaze or twisted attraction like he should be. In some shots/scenes he's positively apple-cheeked and clear-eyed.

If she WAS a teenager when they dated/she got pregnant, "long-gone" might have been June & July.

Or just watch Zodiac!

Yes, he's showing he's se;f-proclaimed "straight but not narrow again." And he flipped in and out of his fake American accent as often as Charlie H on Sons of Anarchy. Also seemed to flip in and out of character.

Worse—the Dad, who might be one of the invented characters(anybody know?) is written as a cowardly homosexual bottom who is afraid to risk any of his affluence and prestige to help find his daughter because his power was built on pimping for his boss & coworkers. It's like they absorbed all the negative stereotypes of

Plus his mannerisms & inflections are pretty much the same across roles. Here he doesn't yet show his playful romantic gear, but the writers tailored his lines to his trademark snarky/sarcastic humor as in Californication.

If mainstream tv showed two men having sex as often & in as many flavors as they show men & women having sex, the extended repeated association here with rape, violence and a cartoonish "homosexual panic" by Brendan O'Byrne's characterwould not be so glaringly exploitative.

Just pompous, lecherous repetitive, condescending and long-winded.

So many words actors & scenes wasted with repetition instead of realism. Cut out one "He's a good boy" & show the teacher's motivation in giving such a one-sided unprofessional response to the distraught father of an apparently well-behaved student who went berserk.
"I can't take sides" or "I can't talk to you

The casting people had to be figuring that you represent their target viewer(don't want to write "typical" or "average," because from your post I can tell you're an above average writer/viewer). Maybe Lucy Lui fans intersect with "Bunhead" & "Younger" fans but in general ballet, lifetimey & for sure Broadway fans

Yes, not just the plotting as the review detailed but the dialogue was so so clunky & lame!. The saving graces were 1)Lucy Liu's nonverbal acting, which as always was so evocative & rich that —her fidgeting with a mug while Sherlock is talking, how she listens to suspects or the captain and 2) marveling at how

That sadly tribal macho excuse that it's understandable to inflict brutal permanent physical damage on another man because of what he did to your sister or ex-girlfriend is a sick and regrettable defense that should call for major counseling and re-education. It's tried every day in the CA courts. Yesterday two
