I agree, pompous music is best executed with energy and personality. Take for example a lot of lyrics on Ziggy Stardust. Bowie pulled it off with sneering excitement even though the lyrics were a bit pompous and esoteric. The guys in Led Zeppelin just seemed holier than thou in their performances and albums. Where's

Cowboy Song stands out for me. It's a great, great uplifting song that gives you goosebumps. But the lyrics, especially in the intro are so, so, stupid. But hey, they had to get to the dueling solos somehow.

I thought that viola intruder was actually pretty tame compared to their later stuff. I wouldn't call it "crazy" or "crazier".

Why?
Why?

I agree. I had become a Zappa fan after hearing Bongo Fury, but after discovering Hot Rats and that amazing opening track, I was a goner.

I just got through watching Twin Peaks for the first time and I have to say, wow. The first season is just flat-out incredible. The atmosphere in the Lynch directed episodes was so eerie. I watched the first two feeling like Alice going down the rabbit hole.

Catch 22?
I thought a couple of bits from this episode showed influence of the book Catch 22. For example, there were the instances when Leckie points out the flaw his commander's logic. Anyone agree/disagree?

Where is it, where is it?
Where is the ugly americans review? also, where is the tim and eric awesome show review?

If you like Darkplace and Man to Man with Dean Learner, watch Snuff Box

There Will Be Crank

The Kids
I enjoy the interplay between McBride and his brother's kids. The scene in the pilot where the fat blonde kid is trying to sleep and looks through the door to see his uncle staring blankly and soullessly back at him. These kids could end up inexorably fucked up after living with such a narcissistic douchebag.

Works on commission?
No, money down.

Fuck the socialist paradise of Vermont. It's a nice place to visit, but you wouldn't want to live there. The 603 is far superior to the 802. Live Free or Die, bitches.

I'm with mbs. This season is far inferior to seasons past. The show seems to get more implausible and less funny with each episode. Most hardcore mifflinites don't care though.

Here's an internet secret. There's a website called youporn. It's like youtube but with porn.

"are hospitals always this fun"
"no, sometimes people get cancer"

Say what you will about Canada, I'll listen to 2112 by Rush until my ears bleed. Rush kicks ass no matter how lame they are.

The first "first love of my life" left me for an Irish exchange student senior year of high school. Still a little bitter about it, though she was the crazy type. She even decided to transfer to his college a year later because she can't be without him. Maybe I dodged a needy bullet. More importantly, what is it about

you ever see the mighty boosh?

I came across another book by Kosinski called The Devil Tree in a stack of discards from the library of my high school. It was about an upper-class college age kid on some sort of existential journey. It contained some of the weirdest sex scenes you'll find in print. Stuff like a girl getting fucked with a tree branch
