In my country they just elected back on Monday as the president of the representatives assembly a person who has been sent to jail for forgery (a judge´s signature), he was suspended as a public notary and he is an evangelical pastor who apparently took money from his parishioners saying that a miracle would happen…

I really believe it is completely plausible. Or we do not remember that this thing kind of happened back in ww2. Friends and neighbors were taken and killed and used in horrible ways and lots of people just turned their heads the other way.
