Jesus, that guy…

Disparaging the machine is a hate-able offense.

I was quoting Futurama, since I thought that's where @avclub-7e7a5f8546ebd7950b3d484e725f66b2:disqus was going. But it would be designed for one "atmosphere of pressure" so it can land on Earth. Well, the Planet Express Ship was, anyway. And the Enterprise was built on Iowa dirt, so it presumably can handle

That doesn't seem to be the Enterprise crashing; the warp nacelles and pylons are all wrong. That does look like the Enterprise rising up, though.

If they stick to the original, Kirk not only gets nursed back to health by that character, but he also gets to impregnate her! Don't remember if there's much wisdom, but it was full of the "noble savage" trope, which is a kind of wisdom. I guess.

Can't really argue with you or @avclub-bca3531762af8a993c4f60c48fd5e33b:disqus, but I love it anyway. Although I will say the ending of Khan holds up regardless. Also, the Enterprise theft sequence is one of the best in the franchise in terms of showing the bond between Kirk and his crew.

Instead of a hole in the ground, it's the Native American planet from that one episode.
