I was watching the '89 "Batman" last weekend; I like the scene where Batman blows up the chemical factory and kills several dozen henchmen. Later, he tosses a dude to his death from the top of the cathedral bell tower. Then, of course, he directly causes the death of the Joker.

I don't want to give the impression that I live in some kind of fundamentalist nightmare. Different than a (rural?) Kansas religious community. I grew up in a Catholic home, although a pretty liberal one (and my dad doesn't even go to mass anymore).

I've always thought Revelation would be fantastic as a big-budget summer blockbuster. It's got all those crazy monsters and shit. I realize they're all metaphors for this nation and that king, etc. and so on, but still. Seven-eyed lambs and seagoing leviathans in a movie please!

We're more popular than Jesus now. I don't know which will go first: the AV Club or Christianity.

A lot of the Penn bashing here, which I am fine with mostly, is either coming with or is mainly about militant atheists being jerks. This is super-frustrating, both because it's incredibly judgmental but also not completely wrong.

I admit to liking the podcast. The interesting thing is how often he goes into talking about what an obnoxious asshole he can be. Also, great guests like James Randi and Gilbert Gottfried.

Well, to be fair, it was in an airport. Truly, a lawless land. Thunderdome, if you will. Survival of the fittest.

That's right, Easter isn't commercialized, just keep believing that. Believe it right to the end, like a lamb to the slaughter, and the slaughterhouse is run by THE PAAS CORPORATION!

Actually, I think the whole pagan bit, with eggs and fertility and spring and birds turning into rabbits is pretty cool. As a terrible, monstrous atheist, I find it more interesting, anyway. Even if I don't believe in pagan gods, it's still acknowledging spring in a way.
