FINAL SPOILERS WITH @avclub-04d524031f29c89d78cae864bd6f0de7:disqus

@avclub-bca3531762af8a993c4f60c48fd5e33b:disqus I remember over on TrekBBS, back when Enterprise was gearing up, and that rally was planned, and there were a bunch of people on TrekBBS REALLY excited about it, since it was the Trek series that the "fans" REALLY wanted.  And then no one showed.

While I did like how Voyager made a link to the Trek past— Tuvok having served on Sulu's Excelsior— it completely fails in terms of Nostalgia.  Because who's really all that nostalgic about the Sulu C-plot of Star Trek VI?

Well, if someone you knew was acting a little off, would you think they're really a doppleganger con artist pretending to be your friend… or that your friend was acting odd?

@avclub-14e4cee178d88fb9aa346dbcc11f2873:disqus That's more-or-less how Ten solves the problem in "New Earth.

I always read Jack's immortality being tied to Rose not fully understanding what she was doing when she brought him back to life the "first time".  She resurrected him, but she was connected to all space and time when she reached out and did that.  So she ended up reaching out to him, whenever he was dead on any point

Beats saving-the-world-from-Zombie-plague-by-bathing-in-every-medicine.

Also, Voyager-in-the-Delta-Quadrant had this unpleasant White-Man's-Burden aftertaste, as they zipped through and showed the wild, uncivilized part of the galaxy they had been thrown into about the civilized wonders of the Federation…

True: Delenn never really says things along the lines of, "I want to do this" or other expressions of personal desire— though perhaps that stems from her role in the start of the Minbari War, her own act of selfish rage— but instead she couches every step in her courtship with Sheridan in ritual.  "When two Minbai

The fact that everything Minbari was so highly ritualized contributed to that.  It made the aspects of their romance seem very controlled and metered out.

Of course, the guy doing Flash had plenty of experience playing Luthor…

Of course, what "most Trekkies" want is an uncatchable cat.  You ask ten Trek fans what "real Star Trek" is, you'll get twelve different answers.

There are a handful of episodes where the utter ludicrousness of the re-used Cave Set goes above and beyond to new heights of absurdity.  This one is definitely one of them.

@avclub-3be42d8a3412057f79af152555e39bd4:disqus Not to mention Data apparently designed his "relationship" subroutine off of sitcoms from the 1960s….

@avclub-3be42d8a3412057f79af152555e39bd4:disqus Plus, SPOILERS:

The best way for a shaky-cam effect is to have a cam-operator with a steadi-cam, and as he's filming you tell two five-year-old that he has candy in his pockets.

As far as "Nog will" goes— there's also "Valiant" to think of.  His desire to appear valued to Red Squad Cadets not only short-circuits the part of his brain that should have said, "Hey, wait, I outrank ALL OF YOU", but also the part that should have said, "Wait, this is a very stupid plan, and we should actually

@avclub-0c3e626d1a287cdc48c77515c8dcc243:disqus To follow up on @avclub-bca3531762af8a993c4f60c48fd5e33b:disqus , in Behr's comments on "what went wrong" with "Let He…", because they had to keep it appropriate for a 5pm Family Friendly timeslot, they had to gut a lot of their intentions for the episode.  Thus, you get

Plot Jazz, indeed.  That's the best description.

"For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky" from TOS.
