I see what you did there…
By watching, I am becoming the maybe-terrorist myself. The way that I write will bit-by-bit reveal my view on the subject matter, as much as I'm letting on. The fun is paraphrasing and figuring out what the hell is my deal in all of this, given the "evidence" I provide on the page. Which side

I was hating the first half as much, if not more, as the second episode. But the second half was alright, because the tropes and all-too-familiar character beats they did at least worked. Predictably, of course.

For me it's the kind of seriousness that makes me feel a little bad for not taking it serious myself.
Not enjoyable. :-|

Something that at the same time bothers me and is an example of how the show points towards potential sources for misinterpretation: Virgil's brother is depicted as coming with the package, not really sold on the authenticity of Carrie's claims. He appears as amateurish while tailing Brody. He's shown *twice* bumping

The fact that nobody knows where the show is heading or what position it takes, if any…I think that's almost a guarantee that it is effectively playing with the idea of how far we can truly detect imminent attacks. How hard it is to judge someone as able and willing to carry out terrorist attacks based on obervations

What if the show is trying to do the exact opposite? Are you telling me you have never seen a piece of fiction that had its protagonists take an approach and put that in doubt somewhere down the line to flip the message around? Or perhaps leave it entirely open and present causes for either side, not taking any one

I'm a little split on this second episode.

Nowadays the norm is what you said. Previously, then more often than not a cold open, then the title. But that's probably for network television.
Dexter does it like Homeland. Since that's the only other show on that channel that I watch, I can only assume it's a Showtime default. For everything else, strangely I

Yeah, there is much potential for tricks.

You jump to conclusions pretty quickly. Imagine you are being tortured for hours. Then your torturer offers you to beat the other POW to death and in exchange stop torturing you. I wonder how long you would say no to that proposal.

I wonder if this show can be any "escapist fluff" with a spy plot they apparently are going to take pretty seriously. Not to mention everything about Collette in this episode, yeah. Seems neither escapist nor fluffy. And generally wasn't well done and never felt right to me.
Except for that totally inappropriate

Maybe the reviewer should retire this feature, because he seems to run out of material. ;)
The line he picked was not ridiculous, at all. That was a play on the Pan Am slogan or what they said about stewardesses. I don't know which.

Easily the best (and only good) scene during the entire episode. Well-delivered. I have no idea what that Bureaucrat person is talking about. She is the best (and only good…alright, I'll stop) part about this show.

That Daria character is horrible.
I gather it's a reference to the show Daria, which I am not familiar with. But she seems to be modeled after Pam of True Blood fame. General look, tone of voice, attitude. Is that supposed to be homage or parody?
Failure to both, I say.

Already using a metaphor for your own show in its second episode…not sure what to think about that. It accurately describes my experience, though. I was hoping for a darker kind of comedy, but still not hating it…

Yeah, everyone in the house is dead. That probably includes the family. *yawn*
We may never find out if it's that boring "twist", again. It would really make no sense for the daughter to be shown in school, then.

The Doctor probably did that on a few occasions. I don't remember, refresh my memory? It wasn't part of this arc, was it?

@avclub-cf1f4ec239ccde6ee3dd2a0a3f17ece2:disqus I seem to remember that River once said that she killed "the greatest man she ever knew", but I could easily be wrong, it's been a while since then.I agree that in her later appearances she didn't seem to be guilt personified. I definitely had the impression that her

I think the kid is not aware of the house being haunted. He genuinely thinks that him acting like a lunatic is enough to scare that girl away forever. Plus, he is obviously deranged, why are we trying to find holes in his "plan"? He just tries to connect to the daughter. I'd go with Czar's reasoning, as far as the

@avclub-f857e90064a9f7fde6981aea8a5b8263:disqus  Then what about all the "shit" that he introduced? I didn't think anything was handled well in the finale. New or old stuff. It suddenly felt a lot more cartoon-y. Like there had to be a finale filled with finale-like events, twist and turns and all that stuff. I could
