I was surprised when i read in Tom Davis' autobiography that the Pong
sketches were actually written by Alan Zweibel, even though Franken and
Davis performed them.
I didn't meant to disrepect any of the cast members, but everybody has favorites and this kind of discussion seems natural at a board like this, superficial as it may be. But i guess i get what you're saying, it is probably the greatest ensemble in the history of comedy, even though they never kept the same line-up…
I forgot about John Hemphill. He's really an unsung hero of the final years of the show. I'd certainly put him above Duke and Rosato.
Favorite cast members, anyone? Here's my ranking and that's based exclusively on their work on the show. Couldn't care less about how Eugene Levy and Rick Moranis would ruin their careers later on, On SCTV they were gods.
One of my favorite skecthes is the "$129,000 Question" a game show hosted by Moe Green. Harold Ramis was not as versatile as the rest of the cast but he had many great moments in the season he was in the show. The Home Dentistry sketch is also a classic. "Your teeth is very much like a piece of chalk. Now what what…
The Bergman parody is probably the best Monster Chilling Horror Theatre sketch, but there are plenty of other great moments, like when once again Count Floyd promises the kids he's going to show a scary movie only to find out the movie is The Odd Couple; Then he says the movie is about "two roommates. one is really…
But there are plenty of sketches with his alter-ego Mr. Messenger.
Just found out it was actually mentioned in the article. Should have read the damn thing before i posted.
Fun fact: Bob Odenkirk hates this sketch, even though it was partially his idea.
Yeah, he wouldn't be in mine either, and that's no demerit to Conan, it's just that there were lots of comedy geniuses there around that time. And to be fair, Conan is the first to admit that he wasn't the big shot while he was there, i remember him saying something to that effect when he was interviewed by Marc…

Am i the only one who thinks Rabin (And many other people, as a matter of fact) overrates Conan's contribution to The Simpsons? I mean, don't get me wrong, i love the guy and he did have a impact in the show, but he was hardly the greatest writer the show ever had. People like George Meyer, Jon Vitti, Sam Simon, Al…
