I've been rewatching some TNG lately and man, was he fucking amazing in it.  That's a character that could have been a cheesy pile of cliches, but Brent Spiner found a way to make Data wonderous, child-like, menacing, pitifully awkward, brilliant, helpless and heroic, all at once.
