Spent most of the episode worrying about Liz's son. Staying the night at the Cortez. How is it at all possible Liz would think that's a good idea?

And not a slick one at that! How are you going to make your first and only comment on Disqus sound 100% like a show writer berating a panel of critics for under-appreciating his flawless work - complete with condescension and a lengthy step-by-step explanation on why they should be impressed

Would have made more sense for them to swap scenes around so that Howard Lyman wakes up and says he knows the judge, he can call for a delay AFTER Cary had said "we need more bodies" and left the office.

I was actually nodding along in agreement while reading your comment, till I got to "The writing is always exceptional", and I had to laugh.

Here's what I said:

I loved how Lucca and Alicia kept exchanging glances as she was droning on, as if to say "Is this chick for real?"

Lol! When I read "on the plus side …. more Howard Lyman scenes" I immediately cringed on reflex, thinking you must be some kind of weirdo for actually *wanting that!

wow, ok, I may need to check out this iZombie you speak of …have no idea if it's a comedy or drama, or if indeed it features actual zombies … or Apple products … or both

That's a bit harsh, I think. I thought about it - if they'd focused more on the junior associates, and THEN showed this ep, it would really have felt like a retread. Back in season 5, even though I shared Will's anger (mainly for personal reasons, as I've been a boss and had that shit pulled on me) I was still rooting

I commented last week that people keep forgetting the obvious person Alicia is supposed to end up with: Peter! There'll probably be some event with high stakes: Jackie dying, one of the kids in an accident, something - that'll bring them together for good once and for all at the end of the show

Thanks for that - didn't know about that story, just looked it up. The judge in that real-life case set aside the verdict too, so I guess my interpretation is possibly what the writers intended.

For a hot minute during the ep I thought we were going to witness a seduction scene with Cary pumping that 1st year who came onto him for information (just like in Mr Robot)

There was an AV club post last week about "17 worst wigs in TV/Movie History"

"I DESIRE you, Eli"

Yes, was about to say the same thing. Her nice lady voice was KILLER. She was a formidable villain - and that ep with the deposition conclusion is still for me one of the best in the show's run.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I actually believed the judge set aside the verdict because he thought it was the right thing to do, not because Alicia brought up the bribe charge.

"It would be a bit crass for Eli to confess his love for Alicia"

Seriously though - I've seen enough Law and Order SVU eps to know that the cops should have waited to bust creepy doctor just at the exact moment he's frowning menacingly over that mousey chick, with blue gloves on and syringe in hand.
