The writers would have gotten away with it if it weren't for you meddling kids!

I liked that Beckett only went to check on Castle when she thought he was in real danger.   (The writers could have easily given Beckett additional levels of paranoia, so at least they showed some restraint there.)

@avclub-707728350e14cf33502e4d0cb073d390:disqus , I would be annoyed if the writers went too far with this theme, but thankfully they kept it under control this week.  Although Beckett expressed her discomfort about Castle's behavior, she didn't get obnoxious about it. By the end of the episode I think it was evident

I agree that the case was rather mundane this week, but I definitely think that "the spark" is back in other respects.

The show's premise always required suspension of disbelief, but Castle's situation still seems plausible to me because it's a win-win for all parties.

I love Ben too, but I felt like the Ben-intern plot was rather weak in this episode.  April's manipulative behavior saved it though.
I am hoping that they bring up Ben's crazy fear of cops again, since DC is flooded with security personnel of all sorts.

Castle will attempt to banter the senator to death over the course of the season. Beckett will lose patience and shoot him in the face. Esposito will use Ryan to bludgeon whatever's left of his wrinkled corpse.

I could totally see Beckett dukeing it out with Roxann Dawson in a joint therapy session supervised by Dr. Worf.

I still care who killed Johanna Beckett because it was probably Gates.
