Except, @drdarke:disqus, Galt is the Big Selfish Objectivist Hero who decided he could pick and choose who is and is not supportable, and checked out of society when he determined too many unsupportable people wanted his stuff. Of her non-fiction works, I've forced myself to read parts of Virtue of Selfishness. However, given that her novels were thinly veiled (but staggeringly turgid) explications of her philosophy and ethics, I don't know that your insistence on people listing only her non-fictional treatises is that apt.

Okay, so why is it the most poorly edited movie in the history of films you've seen?

So why are widescreen close-ups an annoying stylistic tic? I seem to remember them being put to good use in Sergio Leone films, among others.

I saw the film when I was 13 and had no trouble following it, and have no trouble following it now. "Poorly edited" or "poorly paid attention to"?

Wooden acting? For God's sake, Nicol Williamson eats every piece of scenery he can find, and I think some of the minor actors as well. Nigel Terry conveys Arthur's youth by having him make googily eyes at everything. Cheri Lunghi is a proto-manic pixie dream girl. And Helen Mirren eye-fucks everything in sight,

"Hazy, dirty look"? Dust off your television screen, dude. It's one of the most lush films of the 1980s — it freaking glows green.

Actually, my favorite scene with Terry is the reconciliation with Guenevere at the end. The chemistry between Terry and Cheri Lunghi (who should have had a better career than Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and a Level 42 video) is so touching.

Ciaran Hinds is more than an extra, he plays Lot (not a big role, though). And Patrick Stewart is in it as well, as Leondegrance, Guinevere's father and the first knight to recognize Arthur as king.

@avclub-33807fbc68d335db8080d3c10cb78822:disqus, that random blond girl is actually Katrine Boorman, daughter of the film's director. So not only is it rapey, it's got an incest angle too!
