I know it's a fictional character and not an actor, but for some reason Yoda in Attack of the Clones popped to mind when I saw this inventory.

I'm sure I'm missing the point of the movie… but if the IQ of society has fallen so low that they can't fix the Carl's Jr machines or figure out why crops are dying, then how are they able to maintain the awesome monster trucks for the demolition derby?

Keen essay.

With all respect to those who say this is the best film they've seen this year — was this also the first film you saw this year? It's certainly shiny and showy, but as others have pointed out it's as subtle as the shotgun Pitt uses in one scene, and that's not a good thing. It tells a lot of stuff that should be shown

I actually was looking at the license plates on the cars to try to figure out where the film is set. The only one I got a semi-clear look at was Frankie's towards the end, and I think it was supposed to be a Louisiana plate, but wouldn't swear to it. In any event, some of the characters speak with Boston accents and

I should have been clearer, @avclub-29501df08e5d9ae59e432e4f188d3735:disqus. Argo doesn't do much to make the situation tense until the end with the sudden executive decision to cancel the mission, the Revolutionary Guard that can make long-distance calls to Hollywood but not to the freaking airport control tower, et

Argo was disappointing. It's very well acted but also incredibly drama-free. There's some yelling and stubbornness, sure, but in the end you know they're getting on that plane and getting out of there. The tarmac car chase was laughable.

I didn't see them, unfortunately, but consider your apology accepted. It's generous of you to offer it.

So… Rabin begins an essay about an ego-driven vanity project with a lengthy anecdote about himself and how he spent a lot of money to take a friend to a show that he was sure he was going to be so awesome that he'd have been able to tell all his friends about how awesome his life is/was.

There's a difference between ambiguous and incoherent.
