"It's just a pulpy [tv show/movie/whatever] — it doesn't mean anything/isn't relevant/whatever!" is lazy coming from a fan; it's doubly lazy coming from a writer analyzing said cultural product; it's quadruply lazy coming from the person creating said cultural product.

I could have sworn I read an interview with him around the time where he said his gayness was an issue… but I guess I was wrong.

I loved Sweeney's Nancy Reagan. If memory serves, he was let go for being openly gay.

Actually, it wasn't 20 or so people per screening, it was 20 or so people per screen. If you figure six screenings per theater per day, it was more like one or two people per screening.

You wrote: "If John Bonham died in 1975, "Led Zeppelin" would have never had the freedom to do 'Kashmir' or, say, '[T]he Ocean'." "The Ocean" is on Houses of the Holy, released in 1973; how would Bonham's death in 1975 have denied them the freedom to do a song written, recorded and released two years prior? Accounts

So if John Bonham died in 1975, the time-space continuum would have ruptured and prevented the band from recording a song in 1973? And why did Bonham give them the freedom to do "Kashmir"? He does get a song-writing credit on it, but he didn't write the riff or even inspire Page's interest in Eastern tunings.

An overrated songwriter/singer, now well past his prime in any event, and a complete jackass of a human being. Other than acknowledging the money he gave to the new student rec center, most Bloomingtonians can't stand the guy.

It is a great song and is even critical of the south ("In Birmingham they love the governor/Boo boo boo"). This is, of course, lost on many of said Southern partisans who, like Heller used to, think the band is one-dimensional rednecks.
