"Doctor Who" is in many ways an anthology series that happens to have a couple of regular characters at the center. When you have to do a whole new story every week, it's best to keep the recurring cast simple.

I don't think that's the reason either of them left exactly, just that they figured it to be an appropriate time to do so. I know for a fact that Moffat tried to get Tennant to stay on for one more season (and apparently Tennant was tempted to after learning about S5's storyline).

"Go back to your box with your tea and your cakes and your massive horse cocks. Let them all eat cock!"

Three seasons does seem to be the norm now as far as tenure playing the role. Tennant did three, Smith did three, now Capaldi's done three.

Could be his dad or some other relative. He certainly looks similar.

Uh oh, Walder Frey is in league with the Iron Bank. This isn't good.

If Rose came back, it would only be for a one off, like with "Day of the Doctor." Also, it'd probably have Tennant then as well. (Tennant is the easiest of the former Doctors to return for guest appearances because he doesn't even have to return as Ten, he can return as the half-human version of Ten currently with

No arguments here. Best episode of the new season. The sheer insanity of the movie is half the fun itself.

First thing Peter Capaldi needs after departing the role is a haircut. He's got full mad scientist hair in this.

The vote is going to fail. That actually appears to be McConnell's new scheme. Vote, have it fail, get GOP senators on the record, unleash the attack dogs on those who oppose and cause them to knuckle under for another later vote.

One has a thing for Canadian melodrama.

I don't know many movies that use the soundtrack better than "Driver" does. Wright is a fucking genius,

Except for John C. Reilly, the human characters were pretty much interchangeable. The only reason I rooted for Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson's characters were because they were played by Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson (well, that and Larson looks really good in a white tank top).

"True Romance" is a very uneven movie that has scenes of sheer brilliance scattered throughout it (namely the Walken/Hopper scene).

It's one of the numerous inexplicable things about the movie; why in the world would you have a talking ape if all he does is mutter under his breath and most of what he says is incomprehensible?

Also rock monsters.

I found "Carnival Magic" to be the worst movie they did they season, even worse than "Cry Wilderness." Both are so-called "family films" that go off into seriously dark territory, but "Magic" had an air of general sleaziness that "Wilderness" didn't have. It wasn't just the washed out 70s porn cinematography, it was

Happy nearly but not quite birthday!

You clearly did not recognize the MST3K riff.

The kid from "Midnight Special" is in the upcoming "It" adaptation as Bill Denbrough. (Mike from "Stranger Things" is Richie Tozier.)
