I heard of her because she toured with Swans, which made me interested in her next album. It helped that this album turned out to be the excellent Bestial Burden. Not sold on this one yet, though.

One of the reasons I think Gosford Park is not just good, but fun is that so many of the characters are unlikable rich snobs. You get loads of excellent, passive-aggressive dialogue like this:

"I don't know why he would come in to brief the President on something that we gave him… it doesn't pass the smell test."

I think I remember during the Bush years hearing that Cheney's last name was actually pronounced CHEE-nee, not CHAY-nee, but that the family was so tired of correcting everyone that they just adopted the latter pronunciation.

If Krispy Kreme were as ubiquitous as Dunkin Donuts, the world would be a better place.

I like to call it "Harry Teets".

The weirdest thing I ever got paid for was capturing Canada geese so they could be killed and donated to a foodbank. It was a good day. (Although not that good, we only got half of them).

Lost it while commenting on Reasonable Discussions at work.

It's a little confusing, but the Batai Daniel Stewart plays isn't a young version of Riehle's character. Daniel Stewart plays Patrick Stewart's son, who he names after Riehle's character.

Could have been Vicksburg!

Actually, that's two and a half minutes, so our estimates are only 17 seconds off, but here we go anyway. It's been a little more than two months — 68 days including Jan. 20. If a year is 15 minutes, he's had 68/365 days, a fraction worth about .186, times 15 = 2.795, which I rounded down to 2:47 off the clock

Laugh if you want, but keeping up this level of failure for four years isn't going to easy. I just did some math, and found that if Trump's first term were a football game, the clock would be at 12:13 in the first quarter.

Today in "Insultingly Easy Daily Doubles"… this game.

There's no on-screen evidence that he disappeared, which seems to support Timformation's theory.

Get some Korean food in Annandale sometime.

John Hodgman made me aware of Malort, and a few friends who'd recently been to Chicago brought it to me live in the flesh. Then I discovered that it's available in a lot of stores around DC, so I just always keep a bottle around to get the party started.

Pretty sure that's called "moonshining".

I was going to say 2074.

Depends on what you like. Mustard greens are probably my favorite but they do have a strong peppery/spicy flavor and can be overwhelming if you use too much. Chard is a real good option if the toughness of kale bothers you (although it doesn't keep as well as kale does).

Kale. I mean, I like kale but really when it comes down to it's just the blandest of a whole family of delicious greens.
