I loved you, Carrie.
I loved you, Carrie.
I used to bullseye womp rats on my BR1300G back home.
He deserves it based on his string of hits (songs and albums) from the 80s-90s alone, but, beyond that, his activism and continued artistic acclaim (even though the hits dried up long ago, much his best music has been over the past 15 years), along with bringing different sounds not being heard on rock/pop radio at…
Yeah, not quite Springsteen level but his very best songs are, IMO, right up there. Mellencamp's issue is that he rarely had enough great songs to fill out an entire album. In the 80s, he was good for 3-4 standouts per album, and the rest were usually pure filler. Even "Scarecrow," which is a pretty solid album, is…
Where DO they all come from?
Shouldn't that be Life of Pee?
Things I know Gerard Depardieu for: Bladder control issues.
Juan Peron, Toscanini, Dacron…
But Trump can look like he does, say the stupid shit he does, and just flat out lie, and people bought into that. Many of them happily.
*What I bought or was gifted (they're all good):
I don't consider the Mellencamp comparison a bad thing at all, and you've convinced me I need to check Drive By Truckers out.
WHY DID YOU SAY THAT NAME??
Upvoted for Bob Weir. Fine new album (which I just got myself), and very different from what one might expect from a member of the Grateful Dead.
Upvoted for The Avett Brothers. I know it's fashionable to rag on their newer stuf now, but I really enjoyed True Sadness. Not a single bummer in that bunch of songs, and stylistically it's probably their most diverse, eclectic album to date.
It's a really good album, but I find myself having to separate Simon the artist from Simon the person.
I didn't even realize Gabriel had anything new… It's been awhile since I've really loved anything from him, but I'll always check out whatever he's doing.
I already hated Kanye and his music. Now that he's all being all cozy with goddamned Trump though, he truly needs to go away and critics need to stop lavishing him with unwarranted praise. Fuck that guy.
Just got the Stones album for Christmas. I didn't ask for it, and I was ready for it to not live up to the hype, but it's really fucking good. Doesn't come off as gimmicky at all, and it's the best they've sounded in decades.
Not a fan of either, but I admit Michael could sing (which is why I cited the Queen song, because it was something of a revelation when I first heard it). I just think he was a guy who had the pipes, but generally used it on really shitty material. Your mileage may vary, of course.
Well, depends on if you like her songs or not I guess. She's been covered a lot with quite a few artists having success with those songs and crossing a number of musical styles.
