Considering how often right-wing talking points appeared as lyrical themes ("Los Angeles", that entire verse of "booo fuck everything that's not good ol' AMERICAN ROCK MUSIC" in "I Must Not Think Bad Thoughts", racist bullshit in "See How We Are") in X's music I have no clue how anyone could be surprised by this.

the first 12 issues are excellent and then there are occasional stretches of enjoyable character work but when it starts getting into THE BIGGER PICTURE it becomes a convoluted, fragmentary mess trying too hard to marry vacuous shocks to equally vacuous dense plotting

"I Would Die 4 U" is pretty clearly like…all about Jesus. Not quite sure if it's thinking HE IS Jesus or if he wants to fuck Jesus or whatever but the overt religiosity is a little more apparent than the fuckjam vibes.

I dug deep into the bits of Prince's discog I was less familiar w/ and came away absolutely adoring Parade. It's a criminally slept-on album and like an extra level of bizarrely good when you consider it's the soundtrack for something as hollow and dull as Under the Cherry Moon.

No Grimes kinda bums me out but Channel Orange really is a spot-on top pick (and The Seer in the top ten also A+++, cuz that is the most fresh and exciting Swans have sounded since Children of God).

G4 was pretty dreadful and all but I cannot imagine this actually having any sort of audience past initial curiosity in how ridiculous a concept it is. Unless there's like some secret cabal of erudite bros out there.
