It's nice to have your opinions on movies validated through awards shows.

Can you ever really own a "yay?"

I just came back home after seeing Selma. It's a solid film, a well-made biopic with some powerful moments. It reminded me a lot of Lincoln in that sense.

It's fun to go back to those season 1 DVD commentaries where Harmon talks about it being okay to make fun of Glee instead of, say, The Vampire Diaries, because Glee was higher-rated than Community, making their mocking of the show not seem like the TV equivalent of bullying someone smaller than them.

Oh, hey, Glee is back tonight.

Ehh. I wanted to only do lists for the rest of the 2010s. If I had to guess, however, I would say the #1 spot for 2009 would go to The Hurt Locker, with Up, Avatar and Inglorious Basterds not far behind.

So, to go along with the 2013 and 2014 lists, I also did aggregate film polls for 2010-2012 because I am weird and because this is surprisingly fun to do:

Would any of you cool kids care to point me to the direction of a website which streams the famous place that is over the garden wall?

It is technically eligible, so you don't really have to debate including it.

Hi there! This is another friendly reminder that the due date to submit your lists of the best 5-20 Albums and Singles from 2014 to me (e-mail: mj1599@aol.com) is less than two weeks away (January 19th, a.k.a. MLK Day). I see that some of you have already posted your top albums list already. That's awesome! You know

A glazomaniac calling my list the work of a mad man. This is significant, somehow.

Metacritic, Village Voice and Google search.

Does Excel count?

So, yeah, Boyhood dominated the 2014 lists. Not only did it have over 700 points more than the closest movie, it also had a number one spot on 91 different lists, nearly five times as many as the next movie (Birdman, which had 19 number one spots), and was mentioned on a whopping 69% of the lists I selected.

2013 top 85:
1. 12 Years a Slave (712.5 points)
2. Gravity (641)
3. Inside Llewyn Davis (553)
4. Her (512.5)
5. Before Midnight (339.5)
6. American Hustle (328.5)
7. The Act of Killing (259.5)
8. The Wolf of Wall Street (243.5)
9. Blue is the Warmest Color (235.5)
10. Nebraska (216)
11. Frances Ha (193)
12.

Remember that time last year where I combined 150 year-end film polls by critics into one single aggregate list? Well, I did it again for the year 2014, but with 300 critics polls this time!

Luise Rainer, the first woman to win multiple Best Actress Oscars, passed away yesterday. She was 104.

No need to apologize, fine sir.
