Breakfast - the Most Important

I know this is off-topic, but one of the dudes from The Lads was actually my high school music teacher. I had NO idea they had a TV show. Bizarre.

I still use 'zang' in conversation. Quite a lot.

I absolutely love Wincing - it's one of my favourite albums of all time. Maybe it's because it's the first of theirs I heard, but I think they absolutely nailed it every way (and I think the other two are great, too).

Musical cues in the Office?

Just doin' my bit for the 10,000 comments. Have either Alison Brie's breasts or Gillian Jacobs' skintight clothing been discussed yet?

But everyone knows they don't count as 'studio albums', and neither do EPs!

I definitely agree about Rising Down - possibly my second favourite after TFA. How I Got Over is fantastic too, but there are about five Roots albums I'd place above it (which just goes to show how solid their back cat is).

And the first two aren't too bad either, even though I think that they're the band's weakest. I personally love Rising Down too! One of their best, I reckon.

Starla… Sheeeit, it's been a long time since I listened to that. The siren in that track is one of the greatest accidental moments in the history of recorded music.

Exactly. There's no shame in loving the first three albums! (Or some of the stuff they did after that… right? Right?!)

Jimmy Chamberlain is a god. I find that when I listen to the Pumpkins now I'm always unconsciously following what the drums are doing. Amazing stuff.

Why does everyone keep saying this is the Roots' 13th studio album? Even if you count Wake Up, it's only their 11th, right?

It's got to be Things Fall Apart. Best place to start. From there, it's hard to say where to go next - try Illadelph Halflife, or maybe Phrenology. But if you don't dig what you hear, then just try another album. They're all quite distinct, with a few exceptions.

Yes, and yes! '100% Dundee' is out of this world.

"Listen: was this a matter of flesh and blood? Yes it was.
Does it matter who win and lose? Yes it does."

@avclub-3205b3d0d7def309007edd6c22dd3339:disqus : What the fuck did I just see?

I remember quite enjoying The Last Continent (I think I read it while I was on holiday in Australia too), but that was quite a while ago now.

I find it astounding that Pratchett could pull out an amazing character such as Moist so late in the series. His stuff is definitely up there with the classics.

Three hours late, too. Poor showing.

Cookie_Monster nailed it. I reckon Things Fall Apart is by far the best entry point, but good to see some defense of The Tipping Point too - it is just a damn fun album, and a perfect counterpoint to Phrenology.
