The original film is pretty damn intense. We never learned about any characters other than our protagonist, so I don't see the point in putting big name action stars in supporting roles in this remake. Oh, and the original was shot in black and white, and looked great because of it.

I really enjoyed "The Guatemalan Handshake," so I will definitely have to seek this one out. Todd Rohal is one of the few directors who can do unabashed quirkiness well.

That opening from "Brothers Solomon" may be either the worst opening credits sequence of all time or one of the best. It's got the dopey grins on Arnett and Forte's faces, the horrible Comic Sans font for all the titles, the inappropriate Flaming Lips song (which, by the way, was also used to sell Kraft mayonnaise),

"I really like listening to Neil Finn."

I've been listening to this album on Spotify, and for some reason, half the songs end with 15 seconds of it sounding like the track is skipping. Can someone tell me if that's intentional?

I like that some people apparently misunderstood the instructions and posted their mailing address in the comments on XL's website, for all of the interwebs to see.

Rarely have I seen a movie that was improved upon by narration. More often than not, it is the crutch of bad screenwriting.

So far, This American Life has inspired two things: "Unaccompanied Minors" and this show. Thanks a lot, Ira.

Dierks Bentley also plays Roy on The IT Crowd. Who knew he was so versatile?

Head-spinning info dump
That may be my new favorite phrase. Also, the best sign that you're about to watch a shitty movie.

This was my introduction.
"Gateway Shuffle" was the first episode of Cowboy Bebop I ever saw, and not only that, it was my introduction to grown-up anime in general. Up until then, the only anime I had seen was whatever came through the pipeline on Toonami (DBZ, santitized versions of Voltron, etc.) So nothing really

"Man, we got one yappy woman here"?
Makes me glad I grew up watching this show with the dub. The dialogue is way better.

Philip Seymour Hoffman
I love how all they have him do in this trailer is cross his arms, nod his head, and look off in the distance. Gotta save the choice PSH footage for the TV spots!

Simple, but funny, episode
I usually write this episode off when thinking of my favorite episodes of Bebop, but I had forgotten how funny this episode is, and mainly in the small details, like the turtle on the pet store owner's head, the way Hakim casually sucker punches the groom at the wedding, and I loved that

Ugh.
This is right up there with that video of Mo Tucker at a Tea Party rally.

I may be late to this discussion
But I'm almost done with season 1 of the Danish version and, even though I haven't seen an episode of the AMC version, is it safe to say it's simply a mediocre cut-and-paste job?

After Boogie Nights and Magnolia, I had hoped that PT Anderson would make it a recurring thing to have Alfred Molina be in one scene in each of his movies.

Is Justice film a documentary?
It was done by Romain Gavras, who did the video for "Stress," so I took everything I was watching with a grain of salt.

Squirrel Nut Zippers
During the short-lived craze of swing revival, SNZ felt like the only band who wasn't trying to cash in on a fad. If you wanna hear Andrew Bird really hone his violin chops, no better albums than Hot or Perennial Favorites.

Worth a listen
I'm always hesitant to criticize bands that treat their fans well. I pre-ordered their first album, and before the release date, they sent me two CD-Rs, one with an unmixed version of the album, and a second disc that would ultimately be re-released as "Between the Devil and the Sea". I since lost both
