rawbun, it is very much England, as a large part of the story is based on the War of the Roses (Stark/York vs. Lannister/Lancaster).

I never understood how anyone could hate the story. It's easily the most interesting part of the entire series to me, and it gives tons of insight into why Roland was the way he was. Additionally, it featured some plain beautiful writing.
